WiredRed Introduces e/pop Remote Control for Help Desk and
e/pop Remote Control Provides Comprehensive Suite
of Enterprise Administration Tools for Large Corporations
SAN DIEGO, Calif. - July 17, 2001 - WiredRed® Software Corporation, a premier provider of real-time communications software for the enterprise, today announced the availability of e/pop Remote Control. A stand-alone remote access and system administration product, WiredRed's e/pop Remote Control enables help desk and e-support professionals to proactively monitor and maintain Windows-based systems from remote locations on the network for immediate problem resolution. e/pop Remote Control also supports field personnel by providing reliable and secure access to network applications and desktops, as well as virtual training capabilities.
"WiredRed's goal in creating e/pop Remote Control was to ease the burden of network administration and management, as well as shorten the time to resolution at the help desk," said Allen Drennan, president and CEO at WiredRed Software. "We accomplished this by coupling robust remote control functionality with a set of tools that specifically address the needs of the enterprise, including directory integration, centralized administration and enterprise level security."
e/pop Remote Control was designed to be the most secure and flexible remote administration product available. e/pop Remote Control offers superior security using RSA for authentication, digital certificates and signing, as well as RC4, DES, Triple-DES and AES for encryption. The product's strong administration capabilities enable system administrators to control, configure and manage the entire network infrastructure from a central location. In addition, the e/pop Remote Control console and directory integration capabilities provide complete centralized authority over group management, profiles and other details of a system from a remote location.
Enterprise Customers Simplify Network Administration Using e/pop Remote Control
Using e/pop Remote Control, system administrators can quickly trouble shoot technical problems by examining the active window tasks of one or more computers on the network, take control of machines and remotely reboot or shut down a PC. Similarly, system backups and restorations, upgrades and new installations can all be completed remotely.
A Glendale, California-based, physicians group, Verdugo Internal Medicine Incorporated, has been using WiredRed's instant messaging product for more than three years and recently began using e/pop Remote Control. The organization is primarily using e/pop Remote Control for its medical billing backup and restore procedures, as well as remote software installations and updates. Before using e/pop, accomplishing these tasks meant going from desktop to desktop, which required a great deal of time and energy. Using WiredRed's e/pop products, Verdugo has achieved increased productivity and reduced system downtime throughout the organization.
"e/pop Remote Control has alleviated a lot of the headaches associated with network and systems administration," said Thomas Y. Pocock, MD at Verdugo. "To complete medical billing backup and restore procedures, for example, all the terminals must exit the billing program. Using WiredRed's e/pop instant messaging product, I broadcast a message to everyone with a notification to exit the billing program. If someone is away from their desk I use e/pop Remote Control to gain access to their terminal and exit the billing program for them. This permits me to complete the back up and restore from my desktop without having to run around the facility to do this manually. WiredRed's product gives me the same flexibility with software updates and installations. I spend less time running around the building, tracking down people and terminals and more time getting my job done."
In addition to help desk support, WiredRed's e/pop Remote Control provides reliable and secure access for remote personnel to network applications and desktops and enables real-time application sharing for conjunctive browsing and collaboration. This feature is ideal for both one-on-one and company-wide interactive presentations and training sessions, eliminating the need for costly travel among disparate offices and geographically dispersed employees.
At the Montgomery Municipal Court in Alabama, Patrick J. Murphy, Court Clerk, assists with systems management and the training of more than 30 users throughout numerous offices. "As you can appreciate, many novice PC users find it difficult to grasp verbal explanations of how to execute certain programs or specific features," said Murphy. "Using the e/pop Remote Control saves me a tremendous amount of time because, from my desktop, I can take control of a users screen and show them while I am explaining it to them. e/pop Remote Control has proven to be a great virtual training tool and has saved me countless hours in office-to-office travel time."
e/pop Remote Control operates on all Windows 32-bit platforms, including Windows 95, 98, ME, NT and 2000 Workstation and Advanced Server.
Pricing and Availability
e/pop Remote Control is priced at $1,195 for a 100 license pack or $11.95 per user, and is now commercially available.
