WiredRed Announces e/pop Java Client for Secure, Cross-Platform Instant Messaging

Latest edition to e/pop product line offers benefits of thin client technology combined with server-based administration, security and directory integration

San Diego, Calif. – December 3, 2002 – WiredRed™, a provider of secure instant messaging (IM) and enterprise real-time communications software, today announced the availability of e/pop® Java™ Client. The new Client simplifies the deployment process for external and cross-platform usage and decreases administration overhead by utilizing a standard browser. It works in conjunction with the e/pop Enterprise Server to provide Secure Socket Layer (SSL) security, presence, private routing and directory integration for the easy creation of groups and profiles based on established network directories.

“The e/pop Java Client combines the best of cross-platform thin client technology with our third-generation secure, instant messaging software to enable companies to communicate both internally and externally,” explains Allen Drennan, president and CEO of WiredRed. “The ability to utilize a standard browser rather than client software is a tremendous advantage to companies that are currently realizing the benefits of enterprise instant messaging and want to extend those benefits outside the office, yet don’t have IT control over all user PCs.”

The e/pop Java Client is designed for organizations that wish to enhance business-to-business relationships with a broad network of users on Windows, Linux, Unix and Macintosh platforms by using secure, real-time communications. It enables instantaneous multiple-user interaction with trusted third-party business partners, authorized agents, sales representatives, vendors and customers while adhering to established network security policies. The e/pop Java Client also enables companies to increase the functionality of their extranet and Employee Information Portal (EIP) with the addition of IM capabilities.

U.S. financial and healthcare organizations can also reap the benefits of secure enterprise instant messaging in a cross-platform environment with the e/pop Java Client and WiredRed’s e/pop Audit and Reporting Server. The e/pop Audit and Reporting Server ensures compliance with U.S. regulations requiring the recording and archiving of instant messaging communications. It logs, audits and provides the ability to create reports on all communications executed internally and externally via the e/pop Java Client.

Price and Availability

The e/pop Java Client is available now. e/pop software clients are priced at $15 to $35 per user, depending on application. Quantity discounts are available. The e/pop Java Client requires the installation of an e/pop 3.0 Enterprise Server. A trial version of the e/pop Java Client is available at or by calling 858-715-0970.
